3) try to use deleting the negative info on your credit report as a negating too.

debt is normally a civil matter, not a criminal one. You only go to jail for criminal matters.
They can sue you and possibly get an order to deduct money from your pay , or tax returns , or even sale of property.

Not very likely. Bear in mind you are at the mercy of the judge.
Now … if you end up in court and do NOT mind your manners, the judge could put you in jail for contempt of court. The same is possible if you fail to do as the court orders. Failure to appear could result in a bench warrant for your arrest.
Such things are very rare as far as I know as long as you are only involved in a credit collection.
There are other potential problems if you fail to tend to this matter. You will sleep better if you do something about the matter when and if you can.
