apply for a american express credit card and when you get a letter stating that you have been denied you can know get a copy of your credit report there are three company’s equal fax, experian, trans union…….or you can simply call all three company’s and ask for a copy of your credit report because sometimes what is on one report isn’t always on the others…………good luck

You may be able to find out through a credit report. It is quite possible that if this is old debt it was written off by the creditors and a note put on your credit report. It is really hard to fix that.
You would also see if the one without the correct Number is on your file.
So get a complete credit report. Then you will most likely have to contact the creditors directly, If they wrote off the debt they may not be able to do anything.
usually if it is longer than 7yrs things will dissapear. You can build your credit up by borrowing and paying back. Current stuff has a larger impact. So you may want to consider a small loan that you bank and pay back in total in a few months once they record some payments.
