Do It Yourself Debt Elimination Debt Settlement

I have a credit card and about $2100 debt on it. I have paid the minimum every month but I am over my credit limit. How do I go about getting a settlement witht the CC company?

If it were me I would call the credit card company and ask to speak with collections. I would explain to them the situation and see if they can do anything to help you with the debt you owe them. Think of it this way, the most they can do is say no, but it just might be that they may try to work it out with you so that you don't default on the card.

Im in credit card debt. Will I get a debt settlement for a chase credit card?

they have no reason to want to settle - you are their best type of customer - they are making lots of money off of you - you better pay down the balance below the limit and stop using the card or you will keep getting over the limit charges and you'll never get the card paid off - plus pay more than the minimum or it will take you 20 yrs to pay it off and you'll wind up paying $4000 interest on top of the $2000 in original charges

In Canada you have to be in collections with them before you get a settlement. It's not always the best option in terms of personal credit. However, if it is the only way you can pay it off then perhaps it's an option. Remember, if you settle, the card will be cancelled most likely you'll have to reapply. It will go against your credit if you are not able to pay the settlement ontime as well.
